AVIDD Packaging Design Peterborough

Our packaging in the past has been nominated for an international design award. We have many years of experience producing packaging for many different sectors from shower heads to biscuits. When looking at producing new packaging we work closely with our print partners to deliver an exciting standout piece of packaging that will draw people to your products.

We will always look at the environmental impact of the packaging we create and offer our clients options to reduce the impact it has on the environment.

WHAT SHOULD YOU CONSIDER WHEN PACKAGING A NEW PRODUCT?

the shape and material

A GREAT PIECE OF PACKAGING ENHANCES THE PRODUCT INSIDE

Apple are the masters of creating a sensory experience with their packaging. Although it seems effortless the exact opposite is true. Lots of thought being given to the way the product is revealed and displayed adding to the expectation of opening each box.

The product will dictate the shape of packaging usually but we can play with the shape to evoke a feeling of the products and while excess packaging is a bad idea, something that stacks well, sits on a shelf and ships cost-effectively should also be considered.

Materials should also look to the product to enhance its USP. The cost will probably be a factor as well but packaging should be an embodiment of your brand.

A good example would be a wax candle. The packaging could be hexagon in shape and made from natural looking paper

BEAUTY SHOULD NEVER ONLY BE SKIN DEEP

The shape and the material are just part of the story. Now you really need to grab the attention of consumers on busy retail shelves. The less is more approach will make a very specific high-end statement while bold bright colours may attract a younger market.

We always start with your brand guidelines and build it from there creating graphics that grab the attention. Tell a story about the product and its origins and then reveal it in all its glory. Protecting the valuable contents and carrying all the relevant information such as bar codes along the way.

WE NEED TO TAKE THE LEAD AND THINK ABOUT HOW PACKAGING AFFECTS THE PLANET

When producing packaging we will always suggest recycled papers and environmental inks. GF Smith has launched a range of papers made from used paper cups, proving there are options out there. It’s a subject you can talk about on social media to promote the fact you are trying to do your bit.

People are constantly creating alternatives to plastics and polystyrene too so sometimes we just need to think a little harder when producing new packaging. Take a look at our blog about environmental design.

\ St Paul’s Cathedral Biscuits

We were asked to design packaging for a new range in St Paul’s Cathedral shop which included both chocolate bars and tins of biscuits. We wanted to create a more sophisticated feel in line with the St Paul’s shop range and so evolved an eye-catching repeat pattern featuring not only St Paul’s but also other London icons. The result – a set encouraging customers to pick up both products rather than just one. The bars and biscuits are a massive success with tourists looking to take home a flavour of London.
