\ November 2018

The AVIDD Design Donation is our initiative to give a day of our design time to a charity or good cause for free each month.

For our November Design Donation, We were approached by Carlton Digby School in Nottingham. A school for children with a range of special educational and social needs ranged between 2-19 years old

They wanted a new logo for their fundraising committee, Carlton Digby Friends. This consists of staff, parents and volunteers who work hard to raise money to support extra activities for all pupils to enjoy and participate in e.g. residential and curriculum linked visits, Christmas presents from Santa etc.

They already had the idea of 2 birds on the logo one called Carlton and the other Digby, so we worked with them to bring their idea to life. Creating characters that celebrate the school and add a touch of fun.

The AVIDD Design Donation is our initiative to give a day of our design time to a charity or good cause for free each month.

For our third Design Donation, Cambridgeshire Deaf Association asked us to get involved in an innovative new project creating a brand for a new type of video for their social media.

The brand is still currently in development so we can’t show you anything at the moment but as soon as we can we will show you in all its glory.

Since starting this project, we have developed a fantastic working relationship with CDA and they have become one of our main clients benefiting from our reduced charity rates.

The AVIDD Design Donation is our initiative to give a day of our design time to a charity or good cause for free each month.

For our second Design Donation, we were contacted by an old work colleague who was setting up a new good cause called The Bosom Buddies Project. The project gets designers and illustrators to design tote bags that would be sold to raise money for a cause very close to her heart. This is how Claire explained what she was trying to do.

“Having been diagnosed and received treatment for breast cancer myself, I wanted to do something, not only to raise money for The Nottingham Breast Cancer Research Centre but to also raise awareness of early detection and to prompt self-examination.

I would like the bags to be an everyday item that makes a person think – “Hmmm, when did I last check myself?” I knew that briefing the designers, I’ve asked to be involved, would result in some great designs and they really have come up trumps”.

How could AVIDD resist such a great cause? We worked with Claire to create a logo and branding for the project which we can now reveal. As well as social media assets and of course a couple of bag designs.

Our logo is made up of a ring of a simplified boob shape that also resembles the upper body of a figure. The boobs interlink and form a circle of women coming together in friendship and support.

They cost £8 and you can now buy our bags ‘Spin the pink record’ and ‘Paint the fence’ along with the other incredible designs here.

\ July 2018

For our first Design Donation we have done some work for the people that gave us the idea for the initative in the first place.

Geoffrey at Oxfam Music & Books Huntingdon asked us for our help to promote vinyl donations to the store. The store has got a bit of a reputation locally for selling some really interesting albums with donations being made recently by a member of The Drifters, when he decided to downsize his collection. The store even hosted a pop up band event recently, moving the books to one side for an evening allowing a local band to perform in the space.

After a meeting with Geoffrey we decided a small animation for social media would be a fantastic asset as well as a poster that they could print themselves and use in-store as well as around town.

We used our day of design wisely and have just delivered the assets to the store.

“ I had high expectations but AVIDD have surpassed them” Geoffrey Oxfam, Huntingdon

It has been a great experience working with the guys at Oxfam and has set us on a path of doing some good design work for some really deserving causes.
