We believe in shopping local. Designer/Makers create incredible handmade pieces everyday and some of them struggle to earn a good living doing the thing that they love. We need to support these people, they are passionate and talented and their work deserves to be celebrated. With this in mind we thought we would put together a list of Open Studios across the country as you start to think about your Christmas shopping.
An Open Studio is a great opportunity to speak to Designer/Makers and learn about their craft, see their working space and purchase a unique gift for a loved one.
It’s worth thinking about. Is it better to buy that new fragrance from the multi-millionaire Beyoncé from a faceless worldwide retailer or a gift hand crafted and made with passion from a Designer/Maker who is counting on all our support to continue their work?
The freehand sewn tote bag featured above is by Tina Crawford from Kindred Studios.
There may be a small charge to enter some of these events so please check the relevant website.
